Comments: My Grandfather, for whom I am named, served this great nation in WWII and Korea. I know very little of his service as he passed prior to my birth. I would like to know if any of you have ever heard of him. His Name was Merlin H. Perry and he retired as a Lt. Colonel. He took part in battles of Kum River, Taejon, Nantong, and at one time was within 10 miles of the Yalu river. Also, he helped repulse the Chinese offensive on the first of January. For his Gallantry, he was awarded an air medal with 12 Oak leaf clusters, and two distinguished flying crosses. The only reason I know this is due to some old newspaper clippings my mom has. Apparently, he never spoke of these medals. If anyone knows of my "pa" or has any HX on him, I would greatly appreciate any insite on him. He passed prior to my birth and I know little of him other than he was a great man and looks and acts like me.
Thank!

Comments: I discovered this site while trying to learn about a soldier who died in Korea, Pvt. Edwin N. Love. I don't know if any one who visits here knew him or has any memories of Pvt. Love but that really isn't important to me just now. I learned today that Pvt. Love was a young African American man who lost his life serving in the Army during the Korean conflict. I wanted to write this note and say that I am truly enriched for having learned of him and his contribution. Pvt. Edwin N. Love has a street named after him in Yonkers NY and when my girlfriend rescued the beautiful cast iron street sign which was about to be "retired", I began my search to discover who Edwin Love was.
To his family, his friends who may believe he is lost in our history. Please know that Edwin N. Love is remembered, and I will pass on this small fact of our local Westchester NY history to all who care to listen.
Peace and Blessings to all who read this and to all who have a loved one who served and made the ultimate sacrifice.

Comments: 2nd Battalion, 11th Field Artillery?
I'm looking for my father's old outfit in WW2 and what has become of it. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor, stationed at Schoefield barracks and fought in New Guinea, the Phillipines and Australia. I'm sure this is the right unit as I know the motto was "On Time" and that it fired the last shot of WW1.
Anyone who served with this unit and may remember Myles D. "Doc" Schell would honor me by their contact.
Thank you,
Dennis Schell

We've even heard that there is a "son" involved! Needless to say, we are quite curious. From the photos, it seems dad had many buddies - does anyone remember him????Any infowould be great.

Comments: I am looking for information about my uncle named PV2 Vincent Lackman from Pennsylvania. He was a member of 11th FA Bn (B Battery I think) and he was captured and then killed on 20 Jul 1950 I believe somewhere around Taejon. After the war, my grandmother was told that he was marched and tortured after his capture, but that is all she can remember. Does anyone remember Vinnie? I'd appreciate any info.
Thanks, Capt Steve Hillard, USAF
