I have several color slide pictures taken of the 140th Tank Bn. in action in the Korean War, circa 1953, at a location identified as "Luke's Castle." Comments: Looking for anyone who knew or has information about my father, Frederick Douglas, Jr. He received a Silver Star after a 3 day battle on Hill 758, Korea. His tank was hit by a grenade and he saved 3 of the men.

Comments: My father served in the 140th Tank Battalion during the Korean War. He was a crewman on an M46 tank. He tells me it had a large scar on the front of it from a hit it took. He was RA, trained at Ft. Carson, CO. He earned two bronze stars with V device. He is alive and well, living in California. He left the army as a corporal.

Comments: I am looking for anyone who remembers Leonard Gruhot. He operated Tank 20 and belonged to the 7th Infantry 140th Tank Division 40th Tank Battalion. He was wounded in a battle at Sniper Ridge in the fall of 1952. The assignment was to support the RKO 2nd Division. Leonard is searching for friends and fellow solders especially those at Sniper Ridge in the fall (Sept or Oct) of 1952. I will see that your messages get to him. I am complying the history of the National Guard in the Mojave Desert,
California. A vital part of that history was the creation of the 140th
Tank Bn in 1949 in the desert communities, its activation/ performance
during the Korean War, and post war reoranizations.
I have found quit a bit of the 140th's history by going through unit
lineage & honors, micro films of the local newspaper, interviews with a
few veterans, and the offical records of the California National Guard
from that period.
But there is information I'm still looking for; such as names of the
unit's commanders, personnal experiences, and photographs.
Any assistance would greatly help me in this project.
