He recently received a POW medal but does not remember the details of any time in a POW camp. October 19, 1950 until July 18, 1952 dates of service. Basic Training was in Camp Pickett, Va. for 13 weeks before being shipped to Korea. He was there 9 months. His rank at time of d/c was SFC. He served in the Calvary 143rd. Div. Comments: I am helping my father-in-law, Richard G. Beattie (Dick) look for a buddy. They were in the 143rd Field Artillery, HQ battery. His buddies last name was Calhoun, he was a private from Louisiana, and he joined the unit shortly after July 27, 1953. Any help in locating Mr. Calhoun, or even a first name, would help. Thanks for your help, and for your service to our country.

Comments: Am looking for anyone who served with Delmer Engesser. Also known as Sonny. I know he served in a Field Artillery Battalion. His brother believes it might have been the 4th Battery A. However I have been unable to find such a unit. Any help anyone could give me would be appreciated. His home was in Illinois. He served at the start of the war I believe.

I was regular army assigned to the 40Th. at Camp Cook in march of 1951
for basic traning and then to Japan in about July, and to Camp McNair at
Mt. fuji for futher training. We shipped out of Yokahoma in Dec.1951
aboard LST,s and landed at Inchon near newyear 1952. I was assigned to
HQ Battery 143 Field Artillary Bn. in the fire direction unit. Stayed
until late Dec 1952 and returned to the states.
