180th Regiment F Company

Comments: I am the son of S/SGT James W. Sentell. He does not say much about the Korean War to my Brother or I. However, when aroung other Veterans he opens up. I have heard stories from others of acts of valor and heroism taken upon by my Father. However, I cannot find much documentation of battles he fought in. If anyone knows him or has historical data about Company F I would be thankful and honored to hear from you.

my uncle

Comments: To pass along to my uncles old friends for 180th reg. 45th div. whom may have served with him in korea, my uncle passed away one year ago this summer, he carried with him the scars he received in korea. when i joined the navy and served in desert storm i felt a much closer connection with him, at his funnarel his family told me how pround he was of me and for serving in desert strom. lets never forget any who have served thier country. to my uncle and his fellow soldiers i commend to them a job well done. to all veterans "thank you"

Want to know more about my grandfather, Gene Gower

Comments: Hello, my name is Ty. Lately I have been very interested in finding out more about my grandfather, Gene Gower. Sadly, he died before I could ever be able to really get a chance to question him about his service. He did not like to talk about his experience. Unfortunately, I do not know much at all. Here is what I do know. My grandfather, from Oklahoma, was a paratrooper and made over many night jumps across the 38th parallel. He did his training at Camp Polk in Louisiana and Fort Hood ((I'm not sure which one came first)), before being shipped to Japan at Camp Hokkaido in 1950, where he played for the football team. And although I do not know much, he was proud of his membership on the 1951 football team that was undefeated and unscored on. I know he played with Hook Eales, Buddy Ryan, and Dan Blocker. He was part of the 45th division in the 180th Infantry Regiment. Any information would be so helpful. Thank you and God Bless.

Looking for friends of my dad, a 45th Infantry Divison World WWII War Hero

Comments: My dad is 85 years old and has just started talking about his WWII experiences in Italy, etc. He spent many horrific months in an Anzio foxhole and fighting for his country and his life in the rain drenched hills of Italy. He gave me the book, "The Rock of Anzio" to read, and I cannot believe he has kept silent all these years. If anyone knows my father, Ted Nadeau, please contact me. He was with the 180th Infantry division, a Thunderbird, and was a National Guard recruit from Chilacco Indian school in Shawnee, Oklahoma. S/SGT Robert (Bob) Campbell

Comments: Re S/Sgt Bob Campbell, formerly of Yorkville NYC looking for old buddies. Many in his outfit were from Oklahoma. A very close friend was from Hawaii.

He recalls seeing young actress Terry Moore entertain with Bob Hope. She wore her famous white ermine bathing suit.

He never talks much about his experiences, although he has a box of medals and decorations.

Bob now lives in S.Florida today, and is 77.

Moore, Oklahoma Wondering if anyone remembers my dad he was there that day, Lamon Creston Moore Oklahoma. He helped carry his friend and leader Lt. Long from the field the day July 15,1953(christmas hill).! He later became SFC Lamon Creston Moore. he received UN Service Metal, Bronze Star W/V, and a Purple Heart. He was shot and still to this day has scrap metal coming out of his head. We are Proud of him!! He had a heart attach last week and we almost lost him. Hoping you know or remember my dad? Hospital Records Desired Sandag Castle June 53

Comments: In very early June, 1953, our Company L, 180th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division, was being relieved by, perhaps, the 179th Infantry Division. The truck in which I was riding while leaving the front line at Sandbag Castle was blown off or drove off the cliff and landed about 50 to 75 feet in a gulley. The next morning I was found and taken to a hospital. My question is three fold: (1) To what hospital was I taken; and, (2) how long was I in that hospital; and, (3) what treatments for my injuries were supplied by that hospital? Any help anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated!!!!

A friend of mine from home, Victor Busick, George Company, 180th Infantry Regiment, learned of my condition, "borrowed" a jeep and got me out of the hospital at some point, but when? I haven't a clue how long I was in the hospital.

The date the truck went over the hill was at or near June 1-3, 1953, immediately after the Chinese destroyed our unit.

Comments: These members of I Company, 180th Inf Regt, were wounded at Sandbag Castle, on 16 Jun 16, 1953. Purple Hearts awarded by GO 41 Hq 120 Med Bn dated 18 Jun 1953. 2nd Lt Louis Jennings, from Maine -- 2nd Lt Charles J. Easler, Jr, from S.C. -- Pvt James Kennedy, from Penna -- Private Murphy N Blair, from Kentucky -- PFC Edward S. Banaszek, from Conn. There were several others wounded at the same time but with more severe wounds and it is thought they were retained at a MASH unit for more advanced care. The place indicated on this GO for the action was Sat' Ae-Ri, Korea.

Comments: Fr Cormic Walsh was Franciscan Order, was 180th battalion Catholic Chaplin, serving under Fr Robert Curtis who was the Division Chaplin. After the war he became Chaplin at a Federal prison in NY. Fr Bouberdeen (?spell?) was the 179th Chaplin.

Corresponded with Fr Walsh until he died, Have family photos taken with Fr Walsh from visits.
