Comments: Looking for any info about my uncle, CPL Charles Blair from Wayne, MI. KIA 7/15/1953, I think at Kumsong. CPL Blair was assigned to 187th Airborne RCT C CO. not sure what PLT. Please contact me if you knew him or have info about that date and C CO. history. The oldest relative, my father was less than a year old when he was killed and both grandparents are deceased so have very little info. I am currently a SGT in the Army and want to learn more about him.

Comments: My dad, Ken Gander, was in the 187th RCT, C Company, in Korea, September, 1950 to July 1951, a 57 Recoiless gunner and paratrooper. He would get a kick out of hearing from an old buddy. His squad leader was a Ralph Saenz, he thinks from Phoenix. I myself am proud to be the son of a Korean War vet, and thank all the men who fought The Forgotten War.

Comments: I am looking for any information regarding the 187th RCT's role in the Kumsong battle in July 1953. Particularly in regards to Co. H, 2nd Bn. My sister's father was KIA on 15 July. His name was SFC Harry H. Knotts. I am interested in knowing that company's location (Hill designation) and circumstances surrounding his death (if any one knows). I know that the unit was attached to the 2nd ID and was defending the left flank of the line against the Chinese offensive. Any additional information is welcome. Thank you.

Seeking Info on JW Tyler |

David Carpenter wrote on 2004-09-26 20:19:57.0
Comments: I'm seeking information on my grandfather JW Tyler. He was a member of the Rakkasans (I have the book by Mr Alexander on my desk) but spoke little of his time in Korea. I understand why, but I would like to know more about his service. I am the first of his grandchildren to follow in his steps and join the military, and he was the reason why. I'm working on building a shadow box for his daughters (my mom and aunts). Any information about him would be greatly appreciated. also, does anyone know where I can get period patches to include in the shadow boxes?
Thanks in advance for your help.
