Comments: I am looking for basic biographical information about on Pvt. Alvin B. Ballou. A photo album containing pictures of Ballou during his service in Korea in 1953 was donated to our museum. We believe he was from Flint, MI or related to someone in the city. We believe he was a radio operator possibly in Replacement Company. Anyinformation or contacts would be appreciated. Comments: I would like to know why my Father - in - Law is no longer listed here. His name was Harold Alvin Lloyd born September 1926 and died in Korea November 9th 1953. He was a SFC and lived on Governors Island NY. It would be so cool to have someone alive that remembers him too. I found his last surviving Sister in 2005. His one Brother was in the Bataan March but he had passed by the time I found them. I met his wife and my husbands 1st Cousins. My husband never got to know any of them because he was only a year old when his Father died.Time were as they were and he grew up not knowing one person from that side. I found them all in 2005 and 2006. Well the ones alive and yes even the ones who died.We visited another Brother and say he was not getting his Flag so we submitted the paper work needed and got the proper marker and I had to contact the Governor of Ohio to get the Cemetary to honor this. The Rolling Thunder now makes sure his Flag is there. I know his Father after I submitted the paper work is on the Honor Roll Wall for Korea at the Memorial. Here is all the information they have listed on their page...

AMERICAN BATTLE MONUMENTS COMMISSION Harold Alvin Lloyd Astoria, New York Born September 23, 1926 Sergeant First Class, U.S. Army Service Number 39733005 Non-hostile Death Died November 9, 1953 in Korea Sergeant First Class Lloyd was a member of Company H, 2nd Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He developed Hemorrhagic fever and was taken to the 44th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital where he died on November 9, 1953. For his leadership and valor, Sergeant First Class Lloyd was awarded the Bronze Star, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal. http://www.abmc.gov/search/detail.php

Comments: CPL Joseph J Hopper was my uncle and was KIA a little less than 4 years before I was born. I am hoping to find someone who may have served with my uncle Jack; not only for myself but for my mother.

My uncle was not a big man as his growth was stunted because he started smoking at a young age. I believe he stood about 5ft 5 to 8 inches tall but his grit earned him the nickname Bulldog Hopper in civilian life. I dont know if this nickname carried over to his military service or not.

He was born and raised in the north Texas towns of Telephone and Bonham and moved to Dallas as a young teenager.

He was killed September 4, 1954 at Naktong Bulge. If you knew my uncle please contact me. My mother and I would be so very grateful.
