THE CHARA WAS IN HUNGNAM HARBOR IN DEC. 1950. THE CHINESE WERE JUST OUTSIDE THE CITY. SHIPS OF THE LINE WERE FIRING ON THE CHINESE, TRYING TO HELP THE MARINES GET OUT OF A TRAP. CHARA LEFT SHORTLY AND SOON THEREAFTER I WAS HIGHLINED ABOARD THE LEYTE. AS I REMEMBER IT WAS ONE CHILLY ESCAPADE. Keywords:

Elko who was from Savage, Montana. He was injured in handling a cargo net of ammo in heavy weather and was transferred to the hospital in Japan and never returned to the Chara. I have tried to locate him for several years and was wondering if anyone might know where he is now residing. If you know him or have any idea where he lives please e-mail me.
