He said he worked on the radar but I really don't know much about his time aboard ship. He was proud of his time in the Navy and loved carriers. I don't know much about his service, but I do know that he served on the USS Philippine Sea, CVA-47. I also know that he was on board for SURE in 1953. I think he said that he was a "Gunner", but I'm not real sure. He had to leave the service on a medical emergency because my Mom got in a serious auto accident and he had to come home. I'm trying to get together a book of rememberances to give him for Christmas. I would like to include in it stories or photos or anything like that. Specifically, I'm looking for Bob Rogers, YN3 of Oakland, CA; Bob Schwartz of MN; Coy brothers from North Carolina, I believe. I used to sell the magazine "Our Navy" and also got a lot of high school diplomas for a number of the guys, who hadn't graduated from HS. Also, gave GED tests for a lot of guys...along with a lot of tests for your rate increases.
