Comments: A short hello to all Korean War Veterans & Friends & families ,
please excuse my bad english ,I am selling an authentic Korean War Flight Helmet in eBay.us ,as long as I knew those Helmets are hard to find if somebody is interested check in eBay under" USAF Flight Helmet late 1950´s "..
Our father (German Air Force) was trained in Lowry Air Force Base and in Huntsville / Alabama. He got this Helmet from a friend who was a pilot in Korea as a souvenir. Our father was killed in August 2005 in Paraguay,in Mariscal Estigarribia ,close to the american / paraguayan AFB.The Helmet was between some of the items I could take to remind him.As long as I knew, this helmet was always in our home since 1967.
Now I need to sell it.Maybe somebody of you is interested.
Kindly Regards
Sebastián B.

Comments: Is there are VF111 site similar to the VF114 site I have used? I would love to know more about the ops in which my father participated.
Keywords: Korea 1950 - 51. My deceased (1962) father, William Thomas Amen, served as skipper of VF111 and was credited with the first MIG kill by a U. S. Navy (and probably other services as well since the Air Force has suspect claims) pilot.

Comments: I am trying to gather information about the air combat operations of USN squadrons in Korea. In case of VF-111 I am especially interested in encounters with MiGs during the November 1950 strikes on the Yalu bridges. VF-111s historic MiG kill 9 November is pretty well documented, but I am also interested in any other sightings or encounters in November 1950, by any sdn in Philippine Sea/CVG-11 at that time. Any info, first hand or not, would be helpful.

Comments: I'd like to talk with any pilot, or mechanic that can tell me the real reason for the square stanchion that extruded up just in front of the pilots windscreen on a F9F. I have a long time argument going on with a fellow sailor, that needs to be settled.. He and I were both HU-1 aircrewmen that only knew enough about jets - to stay off the Phil Sea's flight deck when they landed. Doug Froling, Seattle

It was a pleasant surprise to see my old squadron VF-lll listed in the
K-war archives. I was on the Boxer in 53 with VF-lll and stayed with
the squadron until my separation date July, 1955 at T.I. since we off
loaded at NAS Alameda. In answer to an another/any other person/s
interested, the squadron is now located at NAS Fallon, NV.
I understand that the entire base of NAS Miramar is now under the
command of the USMC.
I still have an old cruise book from the USS Wasp, the last carrier on
which I was based with VF-lll. The first CVA I was on was the
USS Boxer.
If any of the old suadron shipmates would like to contact me,
my e-mail is as follows: Amcl111@aol.com.
Anybody still out there?

I haven't found anything yet ref: VF 194. I was in this "Fightron" from
1950 till 1954. We were reassigned from CAG 19 to a new type of air
group called Air Task Group One. ATG -1 consisted of VF 0194, (AD 3's
& 4's), VF-52,(F9F's), VF- 111(F9F's), & VF 653,(F4U Corsairs).
Navy Carrier Squadrons in the Korean War were home-based at various
Naval Air Stations, and were assigned to available Carriers for 2-week
"Carrier Quals" (training),and also for overseas duty. In our case, we
spent a few weeks operating out of Pearl for additional training
before continuing on to Korean waters.
