Comments: I have been a military aviation historian / writer for over 40 years. This has led to my having numerous books and articles published. You can get on line and go to either www.amazon.com or www.google.com and type in Warren Thompson where they ask for "search". Currently, I am writing a book on F4U Corsair operations in the Korean War. I would like to hear from anyone that served in the squadron during this era.

Comments: Hello, my father was in VF-114 during the vietnam war. He died in 1967 when I was just a baby. As I tried to locate friends of my dad's I found that there was no squadron site and so I have created one for you.
I need help filling it out, I have the cruise books from the Kitty Hawk '65-'67 and I've got all that loaded. But now I need all the other squadron photo's and rosters, deployment info, etc.
If you were in VF-114 or have info about it please send it to me or post directly to the site.

I understand he was assigned to a squadron onboard the USS Philippine Sea and flew recon during the Korean War, but that is all the information I have. Maybe someone knew of my father and his squadron? Any information would be helpful!
Thanks,

Comments: Looking for squadron-mates of my father, Bill Converse, AMC, or Chief EG Conklin, aboard USS Kearsarge 53-54 Sea of Japan deployment. He passed away April 2, 2003 with fond memories of his next to last deployment before retiring in 1960. Have pictures of flight deck activities, chiefs quarters, Hawaii, Japan, and Hong Kong liberties.....and cruise book. He mentioned that Mickey Rooney stayed in Chiefs berthing during some of the shooting of movie, "The Bridges at Toko-Ri". Does anyone have photo of Mickey on ship or in Chiefs mess?

Comments: I am trying to gather information about the air combat operations of USN squadrons in Korea. In case of VF-114 I am especially interested in encounters with MiGs during the November 1950 strikes on the Yalu bridges. VF-114s Historical Report mentions encounter with MiGs attacking the air group 9 November, as well as sightings or attacks the 10th and 12th. I am interested in anything further on those encounter or others by VF-114 or any sdn in Philippine Sea/CVG-11 at that time. Any info, first hand or not, would be helpful.

I served in the Navy from 1950-1954. I did two tours with VF-114
aboard the Philippine Sea CV-47. Then I transferred to VS-38 and did
1 tour with that squadron aboard several CVE's; in Japan; and trips to
Hong Kong; Subic Bay; off Formossa; South China Sea.
I am seeking the following:
1. Squadron mates from both VF-114 and VS-38.
2. Anyone who served on the USNS GENERAL NELSON M. WALKER
and andyone who served on an Oiler USS CACAPON.
3. Aso, my brother, 2nd. Lt. William M. Carter was killed
while flying an F-51 while serving with the Air Force.
He went down off Korea on 10 Oct. 1950. He was in the
25th. Fighter/Intercepter Squadron.
Anyone who knew him or served with him, I would like to hear.
Thanks,
Frank L. Carter
