James Varney RAF pilot/POW? |

Comments: How would I go about finding out about a family story? I was told my father (James Allen Varney) was an RAF pilot who flew in the Korean War (1950-1953 he would have been 22-25yo) and was shot down and held as a POW for six months. He had a scar on his right temple, which I had assumed came from being shot down. He never spoke of it and he died when I was 17 (23 years ago). He was born in Glasgow, Scotland and was a British citizen until he came to the US in 1963. I can confirm that he was in the RAF and I believe he left the service in 1961.

Comments: Yes, unfortunately it is true. After working for NSA while in the military and living in Northern China 2002-2007 near the North Korean border I have learned from many witnesses there are a number of American and possibly British POWs still being held in North Korea. The governments know about this but declare them "missing, presumed dead" or "chose to stay". Therefore I share my information with everyone in hopes something will be done soon to get these men back. www.dprk-captives.com

Comments: I am interested in finding out any information on my uncle John Perkins who was taken prisoner at imjin river. As a boy I was never allowed to ask him about his experiances in the war.He did however mention that he or friends were shelled by the US tanks and subsequently were captured
