| LUC VAN POELJE wrote on June 26, 2011 City and State: AMSTERDAM Unit: UN NETHERLANDS BATTALION Service or Relationship: UNITED NATIONS Comments: I hope anyone with knowledge or a faint memory of (Gerrit) "Duck" van Poelje, a Dutch Infantry Lt. (platoon leader) or maybe later a Captain. He was awarded the bronze star I remember. I would be very grateful if you could share any memory you may have. Duck has died in 2007. I hope to learn more about his time there. Obviously, time is running out and online resources are rare. VAN DORENMALEN AND KOIA |
| FRANCOISE FAULKNER wrote on October 6, 2010 City and State: BRUTON Unit: Service or Relationship: FRIEND OF VETERAN Comments: A friend of mine whose father fought during the Korean war with the Dutch "Indiian Head" contingent has a picture of her father with a young Korean girl who was "adopted" by the Dutch contingent at some time during the Korean war. The soldier on the picture is Hendricus Adrianus Cornelis van Dorenmalen. He enlisted twice. And the little girl on the picture was known as "Koia". Koia would be in her sixties now. We are wondering if anyone remembers the little girl "Koia" and perhaps even knows what became of her. To get in touch with "Koia" would be a dream come true for my friend. Any other relevant information would also be welcome. I thank you for your help, Françoise Faulkner-Trine Keywords: Van Dorenmalen, Koia, Indian Head, 38th infantry, Netherlands detachment, dutch, Marnemen |

What a difference from 1953 till the present. of all the changes from a country that was completely demolished to now a World City.I'm sure that everyone who served in Korea could be proud of the changes that happened in Korea. It's just to bad that we had to leave so many of our comrades behind us, but they are well looked after. "May God bless them all" Keywords: |
