Comments: If Willard Grant Bledsoe sounds familiar, please respond. He is my father and enlisted in Air Force when he was 17 in 1950-1951. He was a medic and mentioned Okinowa,Japan alot. He is now deceased and I would love to from anyone who knew him then.
Thanks,Donna Jordan

UNIT: 18TH MED GP., DETACHMENT 1 - K46

SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: -

Comments: I was stationed at K-46, an airstrip near the city of Wonju in 1952. Some of my pals in the 18th Medical Group included Billy Horne, from Texas, Elton Hill, from Lousiana, Arthur Castro, from California, and Kenneth Davis, from Ohio. Our flight surgeons were; first, Capt. Robert Singer and later, Capt. William Anchutz. I recall one time, our lone representative from the Union of South Africa, had not received his liquor rations for quite some time. Well we had a 5-gallon jug of ethyl alcohol in the dispensary which had not been getting much use, so we called our friends in Food Service and invited them to our quonset hut for a party, on the condition that they bring several 46-oz. cans of grapefruit juice. Well, a good time was had by all; I recall one guy from Georgia was playing the guitar and singing,"Well there's a green light, your'e free to go, you take the high road, I'll take the low"------.
The next morning we had a huge contingent at sick call.
