Comments: Was lead operator on the bombing of the Yalu bridges, when 84's got shot up pretty good. Also on duty when a shot up B29 crashed into our cement mixer half way down our new concrete runway after being directed to the pierced plank runway, and when the F80 Trainer crashed when banking too sharp turning onto final. Was in same barracks as Bernie Garbowski, Bill Melech, Charlie Donahue, John Webster among others. I found them, but not Harry Schaeffer. Any news on Harry? And I'm hurt that I was forgotten in the other responses.

I lived in the Quanset huts located on the south side of the field not far from the base hospital (I do remember all those round eyed Joason Nurses)the chapel and the EM Mess tents.

Comments: I served as an air traffic controller at Taegu Matcon (K-2) from January to December, 1952, in the 1973rd AACS Sqdn. I used the call sign "Easy Nan" when giving IFR clearances to towers at K-2, K-3, K-8, K-9. Would like to hear from anyone in air traffic control there in 1952, especially Robert Brown (Baker Nan at K-9). Also Willie Treet (Willie Tare) and Roger Shepherd (Roger Sugar) who were in Base OPs at K-2 who called in flight plans to us. Some other matcon controllers were Charlie Donahue, Louis Desbles, Sgt. Tripp, Glover Baldock.

In my April 3rd message I did not list pertinent information. Worked at Taegu Matcon Jan to Dec, 1952. Some names I remember - Bernie Garbowski, William Malech, Don Harlan, Bill Burris, Glover Baldock (Lynchburg, VA), Tom Frame (Kansas), John Montel, Louis Desbles (Chicago), Harry Shaeffer (all in Matcon), Roger Shepherd and Willie Treet in Base Ops; Mel Kampmann (K-8 tower); William Vickery and "Baker Nan"(K-9 tower). Would enjoy hearing from anyone there during 1952,

Hugh Eaton (Easy Nan)

KOREA 2-1951 TO 4-1952, RANDALPH TOWER CHIEF TO 12-1952

One thing I do remember is I was on last tour in the Air Traffic Control Center some time during the above dates and we had alot of B29s coming
back from the North, one called in for an mergency landing, he had been hit.

I took over and cleared him straight in on IFR. I told him we had two high peaks so watch for them.

He called back and said he had us in sight and
requested to cancelled his IFR, I did. We could not see him and could raise him on the radio.

Soon we learned he hit the second peak by just a few feet.

I took my crew and we all hiked up to help with what we could. By the time we arrived the Koreans had taken all of the aluminum and any thing else they could use or sell. We helped putting things together with the others. They gave me some pictures of the crash scene. I still have them.
