Comments: I collect war letters and war diaries. Lester Strew was with the AACS in New Guinea and in Korea duirng the Korean War. Im trying to find out info on Lesters POW status during WWII. What camp, and which dates was he captive? (His son Niles "Nick" strew served with the 1/3 Marines Bravo company 1967 to 1968.)

Comments: I am asisting a veteran in reconstructing his records. He has a bad memory. He was with an AACS unit in Korea from aprox. June or July 52 or 53 for about 100 days. He doesn't have alot of memory about that time. His family is trying to reconstruct his records. His name is Kenneth Phillips; he is from Maryland and was stationed in Japan prior to being sent to Korea. He was also at Johnson's AFB at some point. Please call or write/email me if you have any information. 1-888-227-1446. Thank you!! Kathy Abey

My unit was 1st AACS Squadron Mobile. Johnson AFB, Japan.

I was sent to Kimpo Air Base (K-14) in Mar 1952 on TDY with the AACS at
Kimpo (Don't remember the number of the squadron).

I was a radio operator. I left Kimpo around June 52 and returned to
Johnson AFB, Japan when my TDY was up. I spent about 3 years in the
Far East with the 1st AACS and pulled many TDY's with many different
AACS squadrons all over the Far East. We had men scattered all over the
Far East pulling TDY's with the local AACS squadrons, the 1st even had men
on TDY in Hawaii.

If an outfit ever got caught short of personell due to rotation, we
would fill in till their own men could take over.

A point of interest, I still operate radios as I'm WA4ONJ.
