Comments: Sirs,

I am looking for any of my father in laws squadron buddies from late 1953/54 when "Bob" Phillips was flying F84's.

Bob passed away in 2002 and I am looking for comments to put on a CD-Rom for my son, Bob's other grand kids, and his remaining family members to preserve his memory and USAF career for generations to come.

Comments: Hello. Would be interested in hearing from someone who may have known my Uncle Alex, or witnessed his accident during a high speed buzzing (antenna check) at k-18. His wing tip dragged the ground and he bounced off the ground before climbing. He ejected clean, but his chute was just a streamer. Not enough altitude to blossom. Killed instantly. I've obtained an accident report, but it would fill a void to talk to someone who might know more. Thanks, Michael.

Comments: I'm on a team that is building/flying a competition model of the F-86 named "Bee Gee's Bird". It's true turbine powered and fully functional with retractable gear, opening canopy, speed brakes, etc. Not a kids toy, but an adults hobby, ha ha.

We're looking for more information on this aircraft and its pilot/crew people. Its in a Squadron/Signal book (F-86 in Action - Walk Around) pg 64. We're unable to read the pilots full name or see the other side of the aircraft.

Any info would be appreciated, and to see the model, visit www.bvmjets.com - look under Event Photo's and click on Top Gun '05 (April 27-May 5th). We'll have coverage posted.

Comments: Some of you 310th FBS 58th FG guys may remeber my Grandfather, O'Neal Chambers, he was there with the squadron in Korea. He was one of the F-86 Mechanics. He's doing fine these days just taking it easy. He's geting up in his years but he's doing well. Just thought i'd post this for him since he dosn't use computers. lol :-) For what it's worth i have the Topper patch from his jacket framed here on the wall with a picture of him in the snow by the F-86's. Man those must have been some really cold winters for you guys. Thanks you for doing everything that you did for our freedom. Reading up on the history of the 310th back even into WWII in the old P-47D's....it's my opinion that the 310th is the best damn squadron to have ever taken flight. They never seem to get the credit or recogntion they so rightly deserve.

I am trying to get a model of the F-84G made in the Phillipines for him. I have been unable to get the right markings.(he cant remember) He said they were locate a the far end of the base (My map says that would be the NW end) and thought they were Blue and white diagonal stripes. Any help would be most appreciated. I'm trying to track all this down while I'm stationed here in Korea. MAJ Larry Erickson

154th FB Sqdn to 310th

On Mon, 25 May 1998
Updated: 26 Apr 2000
Dave Brazelton Email address wrote:

K-2, Taegu. I was maintenance officer of the only remaining unit
with F-84D aircraft. Later, we received F-84E models and finally the F
84G.

Almost immediately after I arrived in the theater, the 136th Wing, which
was an ANG wing was sent home (all their folks had already gone) and the
58th Wing was commissioned. Those of us in the wing at the time
remained as members of the new organization. The 154th squadron became
the 310th FB Sqdn.

Our companion squadrons were the 311th and the 69th. The 310th was the
squadron into which the remaining F-84D aircraft were concentrated. They
were a study in contrasts. They had the J-35-29 engine which gave them
the power of the later -G models and were lighter than the E's possessed
by the other squadrons. Although they flew the pants off of the others,
the -D was a bear to maintain. The wiring was junk: As much as 8 stray
volts to the armament systems created a real desire to move rocket
pigtail hookup to the end of the runway instead of on the ramp.

You have to realize the aircraft in the 58th wing were parked so those
rockets were directed in the general direction of the Officer's Club.
