SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: AIR FORCE VETERAN Comments: I do have some pictures of the base and down town and Troyes, my old hang out, and big times at the Central Bar, which is no longer there. I remember those long winter rides back to the base driving on ice covered high way. We worked in tents for 2 1/2 years and ate "C" rations as well. After looking at those old pictures I don't know how we stood it 20 below at times. My friend Bob Cox was in the warehouse along the main road to the base when someone was working on a F86 and the guns went off and shot holes into the door of the warehouse, just mist Bob, one person got hit. My Dad has recently expired and I need information about his service in this unit and information regarding the Court Martial he received in the mid 1950's. My father was very troubled throughout his life. He always said he was innocent of the crime he was acused of. In the process he became a recluse and died alone. I was Assistant Crew Chief on an F84 in the 494th Squadron. The wing went tdy to Munich Germany in July or August 1952 while the runway was repaved. Boyd "Pappy" Gwin, a pilot, whose plane was shot down while on a bombing mission in North Korea on January 6, 1953. He was MIA status for awhile. My mother, his wife, Katherine "Kay" Gwin is no longer alive but my brother, sister and I wish to hear of any details pertaining to his time in Korea---or training before hand. I would especially like to hear exactly where his plane went down in Korea. He was part of the Nebraska Air National Guard which was activated in 1951 or 1952.
