Looking for Names I Recognize

Comments: I was in the 67th FBS at Wonju (K46) from December 1951 until November 1952 after being moved from K-10 Chinhae. Served in the 67th under Lt. Colonel Crowe and Lt. Colonel Long and was assigned to the orderly room. I was a pilot but too young (18) to fly in the Air Force. I did however, continue to fly many years as a civilian. Most recently, I have been in contact with Retired Navy Captain Tracy D. Connors who authored and dedicated a book to his uncle lst Lt. Archie Connors, Jr. who was one of our 67th pilots who was KIA. You might be interested in obtaining a copy of TRUCKBUSTERS FROM DOGPATCH. It is a comprehensive combat diary of the 18th FBW in the Korean War, 1950 - 1953. In fact, page 405 of the book is written about yours truly with photos. If any of you have not heard of TRUCKBUSTERS FROM DOGPATCH, I have Captain Connors e-mail address on my address book.

Major Lou Sebille's F51D

Comments: I am looking for photos of Major Lou Sebille's F51D Mustang or any Mustang of the 67th FBS in Korea. I am building a Mustang to honor Major Sebille and all the men who gave their all in the Korean War. Unit markings and tail number is critical. Comments: Went to Korea August 1953 right out of tech school.My first assignment was crewing an F-86F.If my memory serves me the tail # was 536 it was in the same revetment with 351.I was a young kid at the age of 18. My experience there was quite an education.I remember when we went down to Taegu,I'll never forget,I was sitting at the end of the runway waitng for some of our birds to arrive when one of our 86's came sliding in an burst into flames.I remember a Captain an I believe his name was Cavanaugh went rushing to the aircraft an we had to restrain him beacuse the 50 cals started going off.It was a terrible sight to see.We were a very close knit family enlisted an officers.At that age I never could have experienced anything like that tour with the 67thFBS.

Comments: I am writing the autobiography of Air Vice Marshal John Howe who before he joined the Royal Air Force flew with 2 Squadron of the South African Air Force as part of the 18th FBW in Korea. Whilst with them he befriended Ed Rackham who was with the 67th FBS. This was in 1951. Ten years later Ed was OC the 79th TFS based at RAF Woodbridge in England and John Howe was OC 74 Squadron RAF. Both squadrons were Tiger Squadrons and the two got together at Woodbridge for the first of what turned out to be an enduring tradition of Tiger Meets which are still held today.

I am trying to trace Ed Rackham as part of my researches and also to put he and John back in touch with each other again. If anyone can help as regards Ed`s whereabouts I would be very pleased to hear from them.

LOOKING FOR INFO ABOUT MY DAD - CAPTAIN DEAN EMMETT SINGLETON

Comments: I am looking for any and all information on my Dad, Dean Singleton. I never got to know him but I'm told he did everything he could to be a great Dad but my Mom and Grandmother wouldn't let him see me. I'm trying to write his story but have very little information on him. I have the basics; birth date, military service numbers, units etc. I also have 2 pictures of him but that is about it.

I have exhausted the folks at the military personnel center at St. Louis. As it turns out, my Dad's military records were destroyed in the fire in 1973 but they were able to find the Air Force Casualty Report. This is what I have from the report. He was a Captain in the 67th Fighter Bomber Squadron in the 18th Fighter Bomber Group. He was a pilot. He was killed in an aircraft crash near Itazuki, Air Base, Japan on January 9th, 1955. My Aunt tells me he was doing some sort of precision flying and he and his wingman both went down. He was from Ogden, Utah.

I would love any information such as what type of aircraft he flew, what awards he may have had, who his buddies were and most of all any pictures.

Spent 6 weeks in May & Jun 1951 as Fwd Air Controller with 2nd Inf Div. Flew 67 missions in ETO in F-5 (P-38 Photo Recce); awarded 1st DFC supporting 1st & 3rd US Army. Comments: This message is for my dad, SSgt Russell Ashworth, Sr. who was with the 67th FBS from late '50 to mid-'52. He was at Pusan, Chinhae, Seoul, Wonson, Pyongyang, Taegu?, perhaps other places. He was at Clark Field, Manila, prior to Korea. He also went ashore at Inchon with an AF detachment. His memory is not what it used to be, so some of the details are hazy. I have several pictures of him, one with a line of F-51s in the background, one of the sign at the base's main gate ("18th Fighter Bomber, Best Damn Fighter Group in the World".) I would like to know if any of his buddies from the 67th are still around, and remember him.

Comments: George G. Weber Jr., my father, was with the 67th FBS in Korea in the early 50's (1951-53??) as a Jet Mechanic. We have several slides taken by him of the base and F86's that have survived over the years.

He now lives in Lakeland, Florida with his wife (my mother) and enjoys flying his model airplanes as he did back in Korea.

He flew on the USAF Model airplane conpetition team with Lenny Smelter.

If anyone is interested in the slides I can convert them to digital and provide them.
