Flight Number was 1172, if memory serves me well. From Basic Training, we were sent to Tech School at Fort Dix, NJ for training in the Wheeled Vehicles Maintenance Course, under Army trainers. In June, 1952, we processed through Camp Stoneman (Pittsurg, California) for shipment to Korea. We sailed to Yokohama, Japan aboard the USNS General E. T. Collins. We had to make a side trip to Seattle, WA to take on 1,500 Army troops. The trip across the Pacific took some 28 days, following a zig-zag submarine avoidance course. Lots of sea-sick troops aboard! Looking for a Robert G. Wass, who hailed from Maine, and a Chin C. Sen, of NYC; the three of us went through Basic, Tech School and Camp Stoneman Processing Center, and sailed aboard the same ship to Yokohama. Bob Wass and I were assigned to the 7th Motor Transport Squadron (Motor Pool), K-11, Korea. We were there July 1952 through July 1953. Don't know what happened to Chin Sen. Really would appreciate hearing from someone. Thanks. Keywords: 7th Motor Transport Sqdn, K-11, Korea. Stationed there from July, 1952 through July, 1953. | WILLY HERNANDEZ wrote on May 31, 2001 CITY AND STATE: UNIT: SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: FRIEND OF VETERAN Comments: A good friend of mine died last week. His name was Bill Fitch. When I was a kid we moved accross the street from his home in South Florida. As I grew into adulthood we became friends. He discused some of his war stories with me and my brother when we were kids and we were always amazed. When he passed away last week his niece stopped by his house to collect his things. Among the papers she found a de-clasified document of when he was shot down in May of 51. The pilot, William Cara, and Bill survived. The gunner, S/SGT Norman E. Snyder, was MIA. I was amazed as I read his document. It made fantastic reading. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who remembers "Mr. Bill" (that's what we called him as kids).
