| LARRY GOLDSTEIN wrote on September 19, 2003 CITY AND STATE: MOUNTAIN VIEW CA UNIT: 511TH AC-W / 847 TH SQD SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: AIR FORCE VETERAN - KOREA Comments: I was communications Supervisor 29370 assigned 511th and transferred to 847th Sqd. At Misawa from Sept 1951 to October 1952. In December 1951 went on 10 day TDY with Philco Co Tech Rep to Hokkaido to locate site for FM relay . It was a trip to Hell almost. The intense snow in the back country was sometimes overwhelming. Had our own weapons carrier which was almost lost twice on icy roads because of the Tech reps insistance on going on. Finally after a near mishap, life threatening, I insisted that we return to our starting point in Sapporo. Arrived back at Misawa 3 days before Chrismas '52. Anybody out there remember me T/Sgt Goldstein. I have a picture of the 847th softball team of 1952. Keywords: |
