Comments: I have come across several photos which I believe are of the 1st
Amphibian Tractor Marine Fleet Force, taken in the 1940's or
1950's. The photos would have been taken by my Grandmother and they
were among items I received after my Mother's passing in 2010. I
have no means to identify any of the people in the photos and I
would be happy to e-mail them to someone with the hope of
identifying members of the pictured unit.

Thank you for your service,

Comments: I reported to the First AmTrac BN. at Masan, Korea on Nov. 7,

1951. We celebrated the Marine Corps birthday on the 10th. then

I was sent by truck to Baker Co. in Pohang where we were

unloading aircraft fuel from victory ships and LSTs for MAG 33.

In April we packed our gear and drove our amtracs aboard a

Korean train and headed north. We unloaded the amtracs in Seoul

and drove them north about eighteen miles where they were

huldefaliated and we went on the lines as a weapons company. Bn.

headquarters was set up where we left our amtracs. We ran

patrols, dodged incoming and held positions all along the Imjin

River until the 14th. Replacement Draft was relieved in November

and we later boarded the U.S.S. Pope for the trip to Treasure

Island. I was promoted to sergeant on the way home and was

discharged on April 1, 1954. The Marine Corps made a life-long

impression on me, for the good.
