Comments: Hi, I'm doing some genealogical research on a US Navy airman whose military records indicate that his "specialty code" was #0021.
I've searched all over the Net and cannot find a list of specialty codes from this era.
Does anyone know what was the job description for specialty code #0021 during the Korean War era?
Thanks!

Comments: Being a rat pack that I am I saved this home town release about 2ndLt. Bean Macho, a Marine pilot who was shot down not once but twice in a matter of four days behind the enemy lines. The first time he was shot down was April 30, 1951, then four days later the same rescue unit picked him up again. Have often woundered if the Marine made it through the war.

INFO ABOUT A UNIT |

george kennett wrote on 2002-08-15 13:29:54.0
Comments: I recently got to see my Dad's DD214 which caused me to question a few things that I would appreciate any help in answering. Here goes:
My dad served from 10/51 - 10/53 with the above mentioned USMC unit then was transferred to the USMCR with obligated service until 10/59.
He was released from active duty as a Sargeant. He served as an aircraft engine mechanic and was assigned to Special Services as a boxer.
His DD214 authorized him the National Defense Service Medal which he never received.
In a jewelry box of his, I found a Presidential Unit Citation, but no indication on the DD214 showing this award. Can anyone out there tell me if his unit earned this award during the enlistment period stated? Also, would his unit be entitled to the Korean War Service Medal or the Republic of Korea Liberation Medal that I recently heard about?
Any info would be greatly appreciated. My father is still living, and if he is due any awards for his faithful service, I would like him to receive them while he is still alive to enjoy them.

I am searching for information regarding Captain Vincent J. Marzello,
U.S.M.C., last name is sometimes spelled Marzelo. Marine Corp fighter

The only information I have is that he flew 103 Missions over Korea in
F- 9F Fighters from 1950-52, and was involved in fighting around the
Yaloo River. He was also an exchange pilot with the 5Th Air Force
flying Saber Jets. During WWII, he flew in the Pacific and folowing
WWII he was a flight instructor, in Florida and at El Toro in
California.
Following Korea, he was a test pilot, and was killed while testing
equipment in September, 1954. He is buried in Arlington National
