STATUES

Nineteen statues; roughened stainless steel with dark patina, 7' 3" -7' 6" tall, larger than life; each one nearly 1000 pounds; all services who fought the war on foot are represented: 15 Army, 3 Marines, 1 Navy Corpsman & 1 Air Forward Observer; all ethnic derivations: Caucasian, African American, Hispanic, Asian, Native American; juniper bushes at their feet; Sculptor, Frank Gaylord of Barre, Vermont; Foundry that cast the statues, Tallix Art Foundry, Beacon, NY.

WALL

164' long; 8" thick; highly polished; more than 100 tons; more than 2500 photographic, archival images representing land, sea and air support troops, supporting those who fought the war on foot; all services and all ethnic derivations as mentioned above; Mural Artist, Louis Nelson of New York City, "Academy Black" granite from California, sand blasted by Cold Spring Granite Co., Cold Spring, MN.

POOL

30' diameter, highly reflective black granite from Canada on the base of the pool; water continuously circulating, but water surface smooth, glass like, reflective.

LANDSCAPING

More than 225 new trees planted on the site.

LIGHTING

Fiber optic lighting on each statue and on both sides of the wall

FOUNDATION

The site (Ash Woods) is all fill land and very unstable; there are 223 piles driven to bedrock, 30'- 60' deep supporting the statues and the wall.
